International prepaid SIM

Postby favabeads » Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:32 pm

Hi All,

My teenage niece is traveling to Europe on a school trip and of course her CDMA phone won't work over there.

I have a couple of old quad-band GSM phones and want to get her an intl SIM to use over there.

I wondered if anyone out there has a had a particularly good or bad experience with a particular provider.

I know she could easily get one over there - but its her first time and she doesn't speak any other languages etc. Plus she's new to SIM cards - so I wanted to get it done before she leaves.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheapest thing is a prepaid SIM. I would go over to http://www.prepaidgsm.net/ and check the options and forums. I have not used any of these.

There are a few international ones that have better prices these days such as http://www.ekit.com/ekit/home/ which I currently have. I have not used it outside the USA, but in the UK she could receive calls free on the UK number or at 19c a minutes on the US number. Not the cheapest but you could set it up ahead of time and test it all out. You can get the SIM for about $12 shipped on eBay from their store.

(sorry for the delay, computer issues)
